Adelante Africa!

Adelante Africa!

"One of a Kind", that was the main topic of this section worked in September. With the intention of learning about some examples of people who tried to make a change in the world and leave their mark on it, we met Jane and the awesome work she has been doing in Africa for years, where she developed medical, educational, and agricultural projects to help kids and women in vulnerable conditions.

To know more about Adelante Africa, the teacher asked us to do a listening activity from the book which included an interview with Jane talking about the inspiration for her project, some of its projects, and how her family was involved in the NGO. Furthermore, we were assigned a presentation based on the information available on the official webpage of Adelante Africa (https://www.adelanteafrica.org/)

With this presentation, we cover important facts of the organization such as its beginning, its mission and vision, the people behind it, why and how to donate/become a member, and some of its projects and recognitions.

Also, with this activity, we learned how to summarize information and control time to give concise and organized presentations. Besides that, we worked on strategies to introduce our teammates before we give them the word before presenting.

To sum up, thanks to this activity, we wet the exceptional work of Jane and her family with Adelante Africa, and we learned useful skills we could use during a presentation  which can be applied to any of our majors from now on.
