 Education Around the World

As part of our training and with the aim of strengthening listening, reading, speaking, and writing, we talk about education and educational systems that have had good and bad results around the world.

Listening and comprehension part

First of all, we watched some videos about China's education system. It gave us an idea about how different is education in other countries.
In China is very important to obtain good results in public exams, because the opportunity to enter a university and choose a professional career depends on this.
Gaokao is the most significant exam for Chinese students because it represents a way to choose your professional future. Gaokao tends to select examinees on de basis of majors.

On the other hand, we also watch an interesting video about Chinese schools operating in the most remote and poorest parts of the country. China tries to meet the needs of all children. In these poor schools, a large budget has been invested to hire teachers and to provide food for the children.

Then we watched a video about Colombian education. There we could see how Colombia difine an educational revolution.
Here we have some basic actions of Colombia educational revolution:
  • Education is for everyone and for life
  • Education for innovation and competitiveness
  • Educational institutions must be strengthening
  • Education must be in permanent modernization
  • All the community must participate in education children process

Writing and speaking part

After reviewing the educational systems of China and Colombia, we divided into workgroups to analyze other educational systems around the world.
After that, we made a poster about each of the educational systems reviewed. For example, the South Korean educational system offers the possibility to choose between Academic senior secondary school or Vocational senior secondary school.

There is an example of the poster we made:
